That's what mother-of-four Susan Samtur does nearly every week - just by clipping coupons and sending away for cash rebates from manufacturers. Susan, author of The Super Coupon Shopping System (Hyperion), is admiringly called "Czar of the Coupons" and "Coupon Queen" by fans all across the USA. Once on the Live With Regis and Kathie Lee Show, she stunned TV viewers by buying $144 worth of merchandise when she had just a $10 bill host that Regis Philbin had given her to spend. When she got to the checkout line and the coupons were tallied, the store OWED her $1.87! Savvy shopping I'm trying to teach people to use coupons in a better way," says Susan, an ex-schoolteacher. "It's something anybody can do. The tools are all there." While coupons play a big part in Susan's savvy shopping, most of her savings come from mailing away for manufacturers' rebates and refunds. Consider bulk-buying for items like breakfast cereal, which often offer ------------ El Paso Civic Center Coupon Refunds Refunding expert Susan Samtur, editor of "Refundle Bundle," will speak at a clinic at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the El Paso Room, El Paso Civic Center. She will autograph copies of her book at a reception at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Western Bank. Mrs. Samtur recently completed her second book on the consumer art of saving through refunding. Western Bank has sponsored coupon clinics for several months, with sessions conducted the third Thursday of each month. Those who attend swap coupons and refund forms.
